The Reality Check

Get honest with your numbers, before the court process decides for you.

A bank's budgeting tool tells you how much credit you can take. This one tells you the truth: what you can actually carry each month, what it takes to clear your arrears, and which of three honest routes fits your matter. Answer the questions, back them up with your documents, then see where you stand.

Are you a new or an existing client?

This tailors the check to where you are with us.

Welcome. Work through the questions below as honestly as you can, then back them up with your documents in the secure form that follows. The more we can actually see, the stronger and more realistic the plan we build, and the better we can protect your position.
We are taking your matter to the next level, thank you for your loyalty. Give us your current numbers below and upload your latest statements, so we can get your plan sorted and reach finality. The credit providers cannot wait forever, and High Court costs are exorbitant. The clearer and better documented your picture today, the stronger the position we hold for you.

Your details

So we can send your Reality Check through and stay in touch. Just these three, then straight into your questions.

A

Your matter

Which matters do you need help with? Tick all that apply.

Existing clients, we need the whole picture. Even if we are only saving your house, tick everything that applies here, the car, the school fees, the levies, all of it. Every one of these affects what you can realistically afford, and we cannot build finality on half the picture.
A court paper demanding payment or that you appear.
If postponed, the date it comes up again.
A summons served at an old address can still count as delivered.
B

Your money, the honest version

Everything the month actually costs you. Be general and be honest, nobody is watching.

Your arrears, the part banks don't calculate

How much is behind on each account? Include every account with a summons or judgment, or that you have fallen behind on.

This is on top of your normal instalment. Be honest, a real number.

What clearing the arrears looks like. The banks and the courts will not stretch arrears past 36 months.

D

What you can realistically carry

Going forward, can you keep up your normal monthly commitments: bond, car, levies, school fees, medical aid and the rest?

E

Who this affects

Is your family's stability tied to this property, children's schooling, or elderly family living there?

F

Your numbers and documents

Your exact monthly instalments, the real amount on your statement, not the arrears. A rough figure is fine, or ask us to pull it for you.

Tells us which income documents apply.
A planned sale always beats a forced auction.
To reach finality we work from your current statements: proof of income, your latest bond statement, your latest levy statement, your latest vehicle finance statement, and any summons or court papers. Gather those together now, you will upload them in the secure form just below.

Now back it up with your documents

Typed answers get us started, but to read your situation properly and protect your case, we work from your real documents. Upload your latest statements, your payslips or invoices, and any summons or court papers in the secure form just below. Then see your reality reading.

Your reading

Here is where you stand

Route 1

Structured repayment

12 to 24 months

You carry the going-forward instalment and clear the arrears over a realistic 12 to 24 months, without signing a 30 year judgment.

Route 2

Full legal defence

Holds the ground

We defend the matter through the courts via our independent affiliate attorneys, holding off repossession or sequestration while you stabilise or arrange an exit on your terms.

Route 3

An honest exit

On your terms

A planned private sale or voluntary surrender protects you far better than a forced auction and a shortfall you cannot control. There is no shame in it.

Read this first

Before you phone the bank yourself

Approached directly, a credit provider will at best offer a six month arrangement: your arrears divided by six, added on top of your normal instalment. In our experience it almost always comes with strings. That is why we structure arrears over a realistic 12 to 24 months instead, so you clear the debt without handing over a 30 year hold on your home.

Consent to judgment

They will ask you to sign it. A judgment can stand against you for up to 30 years, and it lets them attach and sell the property.

One missed instalment

Miss a single payment on that steep six month deal and the judgment can be enforced. Repossession and sale follow.

The shortfall

If the auction price does not cover the debt, you can still be liable for what is left. None of this is inevitable, it is exactly what the window and an honest plan exist to prevent.

You cannot run from debt forever

It catches up, and so does the interest, which grows every month you wait. The sooner you face it honestly, the more options you keep. Gather every document and email you have, upload them above, and that is what lets us tell you how to move forward.
